The Best Books you have read relating to collecting

I was hoping to compile a list of books that you think would be the best books relating to collecting (not about history).

I'll start the ball rolling:

on Iron Crosses

1. Iron Time by Stephen Previteria
2. The Iron Cross of 1939 by Gordon Williamson
3. The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross by Dietrich Maerz

1) Just for simple plain viewing, I always enjoyed looking through Angolia's first dagger book.

The examples shown a lot of dealers should see to know what a "mint" item is, especially compared to the stuff many list as being in that condition.

2) Though possibly outdated by other books I'm unaware of, I always enjoy looking through the Tony Oliver book on Allach. I got it when it was new and most items shown I've still never actually seen in person

IMHO, the best TR Militaria book ever published in terms of format, information, size, photography--and I don't even collect tunics.

(wish they would do one on piped M-36 tunics--hint, hint....)

I would add "Medals and Decorations of the Third Reich", by Dr. Heinrich Doehle and "Third Reich Lugers", by Jan Still, to all that have been listed...

I've done 2 more volumes on SS/Police German Cross in Gold holders since the link was compiled for recipients and rank lists. Volume 3: "Nordland" and volume 4: SS Cavalry.


for biographies the 2 volumes of "Waffen-SS Commanders" covers all corps and divisional commanders in some 700 pages.
