Uniform Books That Need to be Written

As most everyone knows, for the first 35 years in this hobby, most uniform reference books were limited to the Heer, LW, KM, SA, SS (x100), and HJ.
Only in the last 5-10 years have we seen books on the DRK, RAD, DAF, and of late (long overdue) the Polizei. Obviously, the market meets demand, and demand is for the armed services. However, I believe these are long overdue:

    1. Reichsbahn 33-45, to include the Bahnschutzpolizei, High-Seas Ferry Service, and associated DRB organisations.

    2. Forestry, Deutsche Jagerschaft, Falconry, and the Forstkommando organisations.

    3. Penal/Justice, to include all courts and Judges Uniforms--OKW, Volksgericht, Parteigericht, etc.

    4. 1936 Olympic Uniforms. This would include all organizations, as well as the many support-staff uniforms worn (interpreters, guides, etc.)

Anyone else feel the way I do? Any others you would add to the list?

A comprehensive book about SA uniforms and insignia has never been written--not even during the III. Reich. I've been working on an SA reference with a couple of colleagues for a several years and it has been very difficult because of the seemingly endless number of specialty garments and articles of clothing produced for the SA, numerous insignia changes, SA structure revisions, rank changes, etc. It's arguably the most complicated and convoluted organization that existed during the III. Reich!

Reichsbahnwasserschutzpolizei and Bahnschutzpolizei will be in the Bender/Taylor Police series (it covers all Polizei branches/aspects). I'm sure all available after seeing what they did wuth TENO in volume 2. Halcomb did her small SA book and for insignia, the SA/NSDAP book by Bender.

I'd add Organization, commanders, units and history of the SA to it.

Something along the lines of my book on the Allgemeine-SS.

SA unit and Personalakte records are in NARS though a bit hairy as a lot is handwritten.

              Mark,
The Halcomb book is very basic with no real documented information, nothing on uniforms except the most basic, and is full of historical errors. The only reason I bought a copy when it first came out was for the photos of the DE Standarte and Dick Deeter's sleevebands and insignia. The Angolia insignia book was my SA insignia bible for many years, but it's only a survey with a fraction of SA insignia and little documentation. In speaking with Angolia, he agrees that it was not intended to be a comprehensive reference work but more of an overview.
The problem with a properly done SA book is that it was such a large organization with so many specialized facets and so many changes to the framework, it will take a multiple volume set to do it justice.

I agree that there hasn't been a comprehensive uniform study of the SA, but the SA has has received coverage at least 3 english-language collector books--
Halcom-Smith's, Angolia's, and Fuller's "Collectors Guide to SA Insignia". SA Headgear also received extensive coverage in Vol 3 of the Saris Headgear series (taking up 3/4 of the book).

The DRB, Forst, Penal/Justiz, Postschutz, etc have never been covered in any English-language books.

I totaly agree Stonemint! There is too little information about the para-military parts of the third reich.

Besides that, as a DAF collector it is still hard too find the (right) information. I need more books!!
