I agree. I liked most of it but the alien stuff. You just can't beat the power of God !

I just didn't think much of the story itself or how it resolved itself in the end. The actual meaning of the "crystal skull" is, imo, not something that has any place in the Indiana Jones universe. I could go into it more, but I don't want to give anything away. I guess it was ok for a mindless sort of enjoyment, but I think it is the weakest in the series and would have been far better if they'd just changed the names and not not tried to associate with with a classic trilogy.

      Sucks

I saw it and it sucks. To much Computer generated Crap. And whats up with him Marrying the old Fat Chick at the end? Right. This Movie needs real stunt Men doing real stunts, more grit, some tough ass Nazi's and a smoking hot evil villanous Chick wearing leather. It has none of these and falls in the Dr. Strangelove Movie Rating System to a total Bomb. El DUD !!

What you're looking for WAS released years ago.

"Else the SS She-Devil". I'm sure you can find it in the bargain bin at BlockBuster

Just saw it today with a bunch of my buddies who are all old enough to have seen the original as high-school juniors--we gave it a 5/10. I would rank it as third best in the series, only ahead of that Temple of Doom(the one with the annoying Oriental kid). Lucas plays too much to the kids, and has done so ever since The Empire Strikes Back.
Way too much CGI (which I feel is really nothing more than a glorified cartoon to make movies on the cheap). There is a lot to be said for the lost art of miniatures, models, live stunts, animatronics, make-up, real sets, and stop-motion animation.

Makes me wonder if every action/sci-fi movie 10 years from now is going to be nothing but CGI with images/voices of actors (ie, Beowulf).

You are so right about this, I think the only miniature used(and a quick scan at that!!) in this new movie was the cementery where they found the skull, and it was not even that great, the wind and thunder give it away.

Models in movies are becoming a lost art, and if anyone belives tha CG models are perfect, think again. James Cameron knew this, in Titanic he used A LOT of CG but also used A LOT of magnificent scale models some of them 65 feet in size, he said that nothing can compare with actual fisical filming of an object. I have the special edition of Cinefex magazine about that movie and you can see a lot of the $200,000,000 overbudget was spent on scale models.........those where the days!!!!!

                Hi Chris,
I also saw it today at the Cine Capri with my wife, son, cousin and Victor, and we also gave it around a 5 out of 10. It was better than the Temple of Doom which we all thought was pure crap.

As you said, way too much CGI, etc. For example the car fight scene in Raiders was far superior to the CGI example in the new film. It would be like comparing the car chase in Bullet with the junk in Fast and Furious.

To be honest, most of the film I felt to be rather boring and frankly I was checking my watch after about an hour or so. Like you I also feel that CGI is all that movies will be about in the future. No need for extras, etc, when you can do it with a computer.

As a last note, mean Soviets from the late 1950's don't compare with 3rd Reich baddies in hokey tropical outfits. Another reason why Raiders was so good was that the U-boat from the film Das Boot also made an appearance.

                Regards,
                Jody

PS-I thought this quick 19 second scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark as well as the fight scene near the German Flying Wing was better than anything in the new movie.

                  19 sec

Agreed, that 19 seconds has all the unpredictable action and humor that defines Indiana Jones.

For me, the classic scene is the truck chase scene.

Think about it, Indy even gets shot! Nowhere else is he ever really hurt?

As to more sequels, there are plans afoot to have Shia LeBoeuf take over the role of Indy. In theory, they could get quite a few films out of him, in the role.

                      Bob.

Looks like they were just grooming that annoying kid in the film to milk out more Indy movies. They could have picked a better replacement. As for the film I only watched half of it and then moved on to something more exciting which was folding laundry...
