Dietrich,
Count me in for a signed copy.
One suggestion if I may............
Why not use the front of the Knight's Cross with the 1939 date WITHOUT the swastika instead of the reverse with the 1813 date? After all it was instituted in 1939 and not in 1813.
It can be construed as somewhat disrespectful by showing the reverse of such a prestegious valor award on the cover of the book. Keep in mind that this book will become THE source material for the Knight's Cross information for years to come.
You will not need to redesign the cover as a whole just a slight, but very significant, change in the date for those of us in 'the know'.
All the best my friend and a hearty congratulations for your efforts! I look forward to reading your book.

I agree with your opinion, but it would be also better to include the swastika since the Knights Cross was strictly a Third Reich award.

The delicate political sensabiities that now exist in Germany regarding the display of the swastika nix that possibility.
A front view of the '39 KC without the swastika is as good a representation that we can hope for.
Another possibility.......The front of an early version of the '57 type would be preferable to the reverse of the original. After all no one shows the reverse of any other badge on the cover to aleveate the offending swastka.
Kind of like introducing your favorite wife, pet, collectables or other things near and dear and then showing the backside.
I believe it to be unintentionally disrespectful to this high award.
I know that we should not judge a book by it's cover...BUT...the cover is what invites the reader in. In this regard the cover should reflect the facts within as close as possible.
Just some thoughts.
