Well guys, I received my copy of Downfall yesterday. My wife and I watched it with supper, and she paid this movie the highest compliment that she gives out--when she got up to go change the laundry, she said: "Pause the movie while I'm out so I don't miss it.". Usually she only says that if we are watching something she picks. As for me, I loved this movie, I was terribly impressed with the main actor, I could not believe his performance when doing the infamous Hitler Rants! Chilling!
Interested in candid/private Hitler, KIA, and Holocaust photos. Also any AH related memorabilia--silverware, linen, crystal, china...
          All the best,
          Chris

Bought the movie at Best Buy last night-(still on sale for 16.99) and just got done watching it. Wow!! Super realistic with a good attention to detail and great acting. I loved it! I give it 2 of these:

              Downfall

              Hello,
I bought last night at Bestbuy two copies of Downfall (one is for my mother). I will watch it tonight. Tony (from the forum) and I were fortunate enough to have seen it in the theater this past March.

              Great movie.
              Regards,
              Jody

The movie was great! I only wish I could turn off the subtitles. Is there an option I'm not seeing. I think the subtitles are imbedded in this release.

                  Jody,

It was great to see this movie at the theater. I just picked up my copy at Best Buy. There were only two left. Price of 16.99 was good up until Sunday. At least that's what I was told. This is one well done movie, don't miss it.

I actually like it in German (subtitles), very authentic to me.

                  Tony

                      Amazon ...

Amazon is a lot easier ...

Just another note for you guys who are interested in the movie.

I subscribe to the fabulous "After the Battle" magazine and Issue 128 has a huge and detailed article on the making of the movie on page 44. The sort of details which are very, very interesting -- filming locations, where they located equipment, reactions of the actors, and so on.

You can subscribe to this through RZM.com here in the USA. Back issues also available. Just a wonderful resource -- the British are the finest historians in the world.

Also, a very informative article on Doenitz's Flensburg government in the same issue. Details I have never read anywhere else on the brief life of his government.

I saw the movie yesterday evening. It was deeply disturbing since it is a very intense movie.

For me ist was a little personal since my parent were in Berlin lived in Berlin and I've heard a lot of those final days already. Now to see it color and in it full intensity was mind buggling.

My father kept a diary, starting form 17th of April til end of July. It's about his personal experinece during the fall of Berlin and the foot march to his home town about 100 km south west of Berlin. It is really something.

Here's the page of the 22nd of April.

Well fortunately for them guys there (and me too I guess ), they had about 3 copies left.

I was wondering how many received a 2 DVD set? The ones there were only 1 DVD, but it was only $16.95 as well. This one has the movie, a "Making" video and cast member interviews .... what's on the 2 DVD set that warrants 2 DVDs? Or did they pack on both on the single version.

Great movie the second time round. But like Greg eluded to, the sound is much better (even with crappy laptop headphones) with good sound system.

The scene that's really disturbing is when Magda Goebbels does in her children. I guess the true meaning of fanatisim shows through in those scenes.

I recently talked with Misch on the phone,he was utterly dissapointed with the film.
And the filmcrew contacted him AFTER the film was made!!!
He said its crap and far away from reality.
There are 3 books he recommended whom describe the last days quite well he told me.
Its The Bunker by O;Donnel,Er war mein Chef by Schroeder and von Belows book(dont know the title).
