Like many have eluded to ... you are kept busy simply scanning the different soldiers for what type medals and insignia they have on I guess that's what we would expect from "our" crowd

OUTSTANDING movie - this is the first itme that I have seen Hitler portrayed as more than a caricature - Ganz was downright scary. I thought that the primary characters were well played and many looked like the historical figure - the two who really didn't were Keitel and Jodl. The only disappointments for me were Himmler's crappy visor cap and the tinker-toy Tiger I and 88 that made their appearances in the film. "Goebbels" was too tall, also . I would recommend this film to anyone with an interest in that era. Simply superb acting.
I give it...

This movie is the BEST in this area of T.R. history, no pretentions or revisionist lines, just human characters and the problems, dessisions and choices they make in that moment in time. Most important, from the point of view of many of the actual people left on the bunker in the final days. There are some inacurate details BUT this are secondary like the honor court yard and reichchancellery upper rooms(the BEST representation is in the HBO-THE BUNKER) Its interesting that they did make a replica of the street side formal entrance for the bombarment shoots and street fighting. But as I said before it's the actors and aura of depression, desperation and doom that make this movie a must for those who what to see and to some point "be there" in those dark days of history. I am sure there will be a directors cut since I saw some scenes in the "making of" that where not in the film. This DVD is one of my favorites and is side by side with my other all time best DAS BOOT.
All the best

Seeing some of the more grim moments on film definately adds more of a punch than simply reading them put into words(Example being the demise of the Goebles childern). One gets a sense of the desperation felt as the end drew closer.
Downfall, IMHO, could not have been done better considering the topic.
Best regards

I searched all over yesterday, and the guy at futureshop looked at me like I was nuts as the film was not even in his data base!!! I finally went to blockbuster and rented a copy ( I doubt I will return it and just pay the 26 bucks)
My only regret is that I never saw this in a theater first. What a good movie.
I was sitting with the pause button in my hand about 2 ft from the TV looking at all the details.

I tell you what though Al.. Watching it on home on DVD is a better experience for me. In cowtown it played at the Globe..a theatre that is well over 60 years old, the seats are falling apart.. small screen and crappy sound At least in my entertainment room I am able to really enjoy it on the big widescreen and with dolby digita soundl.. it was a much more enjoyable experience.
