    1/250n IJN Yamato Build

This worked well to keep me accountable on my USS Texas model, so I hope this does the same. Picked this up at an estate sale as as the weather is getting cooler, I will start in on it again. It's going to take a while!

First time modeling blast bags. It's going to take several tries to get it right, but if I like the result, I am going to retrofit them to the Texas (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=USS+Texas+Don)

Was going through subscribed threads and was wondering how this project was shaping up?

A funny thing happened on the way to build the Yamato... I made the poor decision to read a book about the loss of the USS Indianapolis in 1945 and then had the bug to build a model of the ship as I had purchased a 1/700 scale Tamiya kit of the ship when a local hobby store went out of business a few years ago and never had the desire to start on it til I read the book.

I discovered that my eyesight ain't what it used to be to do the detail work on a 1/700 scale model any more, but I persevered.

The other thing was that I started to detail out the rigging on my 1/350 Texas that I did last year (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=USS+Texas) as I finally found a set of photos I had taken a few years back of her masts with detail on the rigging. So, long story short, I delayed the Yamato to take care of those two...

Great work, Isoroku would be proud of you! They found him sitting in his seat holding his sword after the plane was shot down.
My father was up in New Guinea and after the war could have brought home a Betty Bomber!
