In my humble opinion, the Poles should do whatever they want.
First, it is their country.
Second, let's not forget that when it was convenient, the Russians invaded and took over half of their country from September of 1939 to June of 1941.
Third, during that period, the NKVD snuffed out the lives of thousands upon thousands of the Polish intelligentsia, to include 6000+/- Polich Army officers in the Katyn Forest.
Fourth, in 1944, the Russians sat outside of Warsaw while the resistance fought the Germans until the Polish resistance was decimated. How convenient for the Russian Army!
Fifth, the Russians weren't there to liberate the Poles, so much as to put them under a different dictatorship. Let's remember that the Russians have historically hated a Polish nation.
Lastly, the Russians weren't so much 'freeing' Poles as they were simply fighting and traversing real estate, that happened to be enroute to their appointment with Herr Hitler in Berlin in April of 1945.
