    Yes

As a builder and developer these houses would make excellent restoration projects. The condition is not too bad.... I have developed worse. All houses have a history..... Even the ones you guys reading this will be living in right now. People dropping dead.... Suicides... Murder or death by illness..... I have bought old houses and one a child died in after falling on a fire..... Read it in an archival 100 year old newspaper. I once took a woman home and when myself and my wife dropped her off I asked if she knew the history..... The history was the family died 15 years previously caused by carbon monoxide from a faulty gas fire......

We have a programme on tv called "Grand Designs"..... People buy these projects all the time and turn them into brilliant holiday homes. If you want spooky houses I can show you loads. I once bought one from a family were the man was a schizophrenic and had committed suicide. Satanic drawings all over the walls along with crazy poems about death.... No one would buy it.... Now it's a lovely family home.
Those houses you have posted.... Imaging a nice garden.... Grow your own vegetables and put a hot tub in.... Amazing..... I want to buy that house!!!! Someone told me France has loads of these projects lying around.... Is this true?

I have visited places and once went to an old warehouse were lights flickered and things were thrown at you. I took other non believers there to witness it. They had the place looked at by spiritualists who blessed the place but it still continued. There was no reason for it.... Built in 1929 it was a library then a nightclub before it was bought as a place to fix and sell washing machines..... No bad history whatsoever but it had a poltergeist.... I hope ghost do not follow you home because I would go there and take photographs asking it to show itself and it would cause mayhem. I have a lot of spooky Militaria but have not witnessed anything in my own house yet. They say an object can cause the trouble. I have heard certain members say they have had freely going ons with items in their collections.... That would excite me.... Prove that its a "been there" item. I have bought and handled some battle damaged ground dug SS helmets from Russia. You can feel and smell the death on these items..... Anyone witnessed that? It's like a sixth sence....

As a confirmed non practicing catholic myself I do not think that makes any difference if you believe in spirits or not. Hitler was an anti Christ and the Vatican fully supported them during and after the war with the "rat line". Their wealth was never touch by the nazis. Jews and jehovas witnesses stood against them and suffered for it. There is plenty of things on YouTube and the Internet to back up what I'm saying and I have not even begun to mention the capers of the priests and nuns..... That's another story. Hence the reason all these Catholic Churches are closing and being turned into houses. Google "Stephen Fry and the Catholic Church". He explains it clearly and perfectly.

Someone probably lived in the house post war and vacated 20 years ago..... I doubt you walked into the Mary Celeste. You want to make it sound more spooky than it probably was. Not exactly something out the Evil Dead. I can show you an old cottage I recently bought that has been empty 20 years.... Looks the same. You want to believe because the place is empty and in the Forrest that it must be haunted and in doing so your mind will play tricks and you will start driving yourself mad.
If you go to a true haunted house it's not a scarey experience. Blood isn't running down walls or anything like the exorcist or Amityville. It's more intriguing. The dead do not hurt you.... Only the living can do that.

My father is a builder also he buys houses like this and builds them back up. If it was in the UK we would be all over it the First house is not in bad shape no cracks in the walls that i could see lead is missing from the roof so very damp and wet. But why would someone get up and leave this house and let it go into disrepair that is the strange thing.
From a distance i thought people was living in it as i got closer i seen the door open and i said "i hope there is no dogs to run out and bite us" and "hope the farmer does not mind us walking up here" only i got closer i realized it was abandoned it was creepy.
i did not make it sound any worse than it was, i just wanted some info on the houses see if anyone knew anything

Yeah like you said all house have a history this had a big battle raging around it many dead the second has lots of bullet holes inside and out you can see the bomb hit it in the roof. so not like just the odd dead from old age or suicide.
maybe the locals know more that's why none has bought it and fixed it up.
as a lot of new houses are being built in the Ardennes as i drove around about there for 10 days.

Me and my Wife found the place to be very odd and spooky you would have to go there to know what i mean. i know most people don't believe in evil or God.
sometimes there is no way to rid the places of evil priest or anyone can't get them out they can follow you home not that i was scared of this. also they say you should never try to talk or call out to spirits as that is not good.

me myself would not like to live out there as no houses close by in the woods and would feel unsafe for the family and the other house at the top would be very spooky as you can see it from the farm house.

also i was told items can bring spirits into your home but would be interesting to hear any stories from members who have had seen stuff they believe was from there items. i have a relic SS Helmet dug up in Poland and did have a creepy feel about it and have 2 items with blood on one has a big blood stain on a SS M44 camo

I've enjoyed reading through this thread.

Interesting to associate the area with wartime anecdotes.

          Thanks for posting.

The 11 murdered Americans were members of a bazooka squad from E Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and of a listening post from the same unit. The murders, perpetrators and victims as well as the fighting between the Château de Petit-Spay and Trois-Ponts will be detailed in my upcoming book about Gustav Knittel (set to be released in March 2016).

For the moment there's only a Facebook page for research purposes. A site will be launched once the books are ready. Working on some final translations, details and the maps before it can go to print.

Note that what remains of the building today is only about 50 percent of the original chateau. Major parts of the building including its turrets are gone. I took these pics in 2012...

At least it seems pretty benign

Unfortunately not. The fact that they were murdered is a story that started to unrafel afew years back. It proved difficult to establish the names of the murdered paratroopers because most (but luckily not all) personnel records from the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment were lost in the 1973 fire in the NPRC in Saint Louis.
