So I ask myself: "Self, if you were a Polish treasure hunter and found a train full of Nazi gold that nobody else knew existed, would you A) alert the authorities so that you could claim (maybe) 10% of the findings after years of legal wrangling and paperwork, or B) haul off as much as you could over a period of time, melt it down, and sell it?"

You're assuming they can access the train..I assume they located it, but need the Government /others to uncover it etc....Assuming your scenario is correct , I don't know why they would, but remember the dummy who found the gold bar in the lake recently, and gave it to the Police??

A Train has been found but "no treasure"

Arkadiusz Grudzien, a spokesman for Walbrzych council's legal office said it may not contain anything of value at all.
He said: 'The train is of a military nature. There is no mention of valuables: just military equipment.'

              Hi,

what they found is an underground bombshelter for the Führerzuge which were probably in the Ochsenkopftunnel and near the Fürstenstein castle (could it be this one they found).

We are lacking of original archives and maps, but if the Fürstenstein was the main "people" complex, underground facilities for the Führerzuge were probably planned.

The train found was or an OT train with construction material, or a military train, or one of the Führerzuge (for some "VIPs" or WH/KM/SS/LW personel).

Like i previously said, all is already in the "Hitler's Secret Headquarters" and "Hitler's Personal Security".

OK, so they are basing this off a death-bed confession and a radar image... This should be veeeeeeery interesting...

Would the tunnel / station (siding) have stayed watertight / rodent proof after
this amount of time? Stone carvings, gold, non ferrous items would be okay,
but pictures, wood works of art, cloth etc, no?

Even if treasures were spirited away at the time and it was a pure denial of
military equipment to the Russians, would weapons, cloth and paperwork be in
good condition? Still, even it its just an Org-Todt train full of picks and shovels
and work jackets, it will be great to see film / pictures as the train and facilities
are revealed to the modern world.

                        Cheers,
                        John.

                            Hi Guys,
According to trustworthy exploration sources here in Poland this particular place was searched thorougly many times in the past 20 years and nothing was found. And the alleged new spectacular facts speaded in media across the world are also old known and can be considered as speculations exclusively until something is really found or some reliable proofs pop out. Although the topic is quite interesting there is nothing to freak about at the moment and the whole thing may turn out to be a cannard in a few weeks. All the media mess burst out when two unknown explorators sent through their lawyers an official notice to local authorities that they found a 'gold train' and want 10% finder fee which made authorities to take official steps to check this out. But they did not revealed nothing new except of what is known for years. Do not belive what media say, they are looking for sensation only and create news which have nothing to do with reality. At the moment there are no proofs at all there is anything burried in this area except of the story of two 'explorators' completely unknown here in Poland. Since this became an official topic local authorities will most likely drill the place but I am very sceptical about the results. I wish I was wrong of course
                            Cheers,
                            Hubert
