Hi TW. I don't know a great deal about their deaths unfortunately. I think looking at the timeframe that Uncle Tom Erskine was killed in the defence of Kut in Mesopotamia. Uncle Harry Dobson was killed in France about the time of the Ludendorff offensive which started 21st March 1918 centering on the Third Army. I do know thaat he'd been in France for about a week.
Farthers, Grandfarthers, Uncle's, Great Uncle's and so on.
What a waste, what a bloody waste, I will never forget my Opa, or any
of the men who died fighting for there country, no matter which country
that happens to be. Heroes every last one of them.
Unfortuanatly, No one has really learnt anything from their sacrifices, I am not picking any one war going on now, just the fact that mankind is still butchering each other in the name of something or other
Come on lads lets keep this thread going as a mark of respect until rememberance Sunday it the least we can do. Here's a poem might not be 100% correct but its as i remember it. IN FLANDERS FIELD THE POPPIES BLOW. BETWEEN THE CROSSES, ROW BY ROW. THAT MARK OUR PLACE AND IN THE SKY THE LARKS STIIL DO BRAVELY FLY.
