Dr. Mengele Passport Found

It seems that Craigs MO is to come here every 12 months or so with some fabulous "precious treasure" belonging to a top grade TR3 personality and try to scoop the credit for finding it, Himmler School Books, Adolf Desk Sets, Mengele passports, Birdhead daggers, cast Honour Rings and so on. All of these have belonged to a recently passed vet, a vet in a nursing home or someone who is not cogent enough to be questioned (or someone who has not been stupid enough to give a real name or hang around).

Most of these items are "self authenticating garbage" but Craig believes in them, defends them and then (as a WAF co owner) gets the thread discussing "his precious" pulled when it inevitably all goes wrong.

There are others elsewhere who have suggested that Craig is merely a "runner" who acts on behalf of bigger more established dealers who know the stuff is crapola but they also know that Craig is hungry for publicity and that he is not that quick up on the uptake.

With some ego feeding and shouts of "go Craig go" the boy wonder once again sets off towards the bright lights of fame and fortune holding the "precious" thing in his little hands.

Except it always seems to go wrong, he would be alright if it wasn't for those pesky facts or for the reason that the piece was never ever real and that he had been duped again, grrrr.

(if you disagee with this theory then please tell me which significant item belonging to a major TR3 era personality that Craig did ever find that was genuine?)

From what I heard from a very reliable source is that the only reason Craig Gottlieb wasn't booted ages ago is because he is Bianchi's friend. So no matter how many people want him kicked, whether they be mods or not, it's Bianchi's call in the end.

P.s. On a side note, here is a little something that some people might find disturbing. I discovered a member here was a frequent poster and member of a white pride forum and he was an extreme anti-semetic. To the point where he was quoting Voltaire in his signature on the "white pride forum" where they have threads dedicated to photos and videos of stupid black people. When I brought it to light and called for an explanation on how someone like this is allowed on the forum, the thread just got deleted.

I have refused to pay for membership again after the incident that I describe in my last point. This forum is in it for the money, I won't give them mine.

consider this please gentlemen i was thinking about getting signed up this year but i have to agree with Pat this is all about the money not about the collecting fun that it used to be for instance 36 people are veiwing this thread alone thats $900 if all are full members whereas there are other forums that rely on donations and are run by collectors for collectors consider how much of your money you are handing over and what are you getting for it because in my eyes all members of this forum are tarred by the few who ruin it and craigy boy are you one of those people ruining.

everyone asks why new collectors are not joining this hobby it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that dealers upping prices to extremes so they can drive a nice car and all the bs of some of these dealers on these forums with free passes arn't exactly going to help and its sad to see

Not mine, as stories like these undermine public confidence in dealers and auctioneers. Certainly not Craig's. It's the owner of the website who wins, no matter who suffers.

Could you post a period pass from files maybe, they are not that easy to find openly on the net, stamps etc. Last I checked a collector blog/site even they didn't have information.

I still don't get why a person having this wouldn't obtain all the details he needs from Italian authorities, the validity of pass itself and all the stamps etc...departments enjoy this type of investigation would have thought. Thread has become boring imo maybe thats why people drop away just not interested. Todays news becomes tomorrows yarn so to speak.

The graph tells me almost half here are dealers or employee cheating on employers lol!

Sir, I wouldn't be so quick to swing a sword at a site offering yourself all this free exposure either.
For example War Relics flatly refuse to discuss the matter maybe that would have been the best course here too in retrospect.

Hoss, my friend, there are a number of examples already on this thread. I found a few myself online, but to search again would take a while. The form, ie: printing of the passport seems correct - it is how the passport has been engrossed (filled-out), signed, multiply-stamped, and the photo within which cause concern.

I'm not sure where you got your statistics about who is viewing when - but I wouldn't be surprised about "cheating employers" - I'm self-employed so it's money out of my own pocket.

Frankly, I didn't want, and didn't need the exposure. I've gotten plenty of exposure, most good, some bad. And I certainly don't make a practice of making hay at someone else's expense. My problem with Craig, and I warned him, was his total lack of cooperation and transparency while a potential forger was on the loose. Forgeries hurt me, my business, and the entire collecting hobby and industry.

Ignoring a problem won't make it go away. Craig is not stupid - IMO he needs to put industry standards and ethics ahead of self-promotion. There's nothing wrong with self-promotion, as long as it's done in a proper, professional manner.

As for interest here, 20,000+ hits in ten days isn't a yawn. It's a scream.

I know what you mean but last year I decided to refocus my collection which involved selling a few items - well you have to be a full member in order to sell, so I thought that alone was worth $25.00. I'd have lost more selling to dealers - that's my rationale.

Sorry folks … I’ve been sick with the Norovirus for the past few days, in addition to being quite busy after our auction closed. I've said this, and I will say it again.

In the past couple of weeks, I have gathered a ton of compelling information with help from some very serious scholarly entities, said research having begun long before this story broke. Resources that I am incredibly fortunate enough to count as contributors to this project. I am building a tremendous case (what case, I will not say). I will publish my findings in full, in due time. My work will bring immediate satisfaction neither to forum voyeurs & internet bullies seeking entertainment or sport, nor to Bill Panagopolis. I serve the truth and history here, and will reveal everything when I am ready.

Rest assured, that my findings will satisfy both the most discriminating skeptic and spirited believer. There will be no further comments from me until my work is done, other than to reiterate what I've stated above.
