Today I visited the Warner Barracks in Bamberg.
I am running adds for my search for 17th Cav.Reg items and tunics and received a phone call sometime ago with the question to support an exhibition about about the 17th Cav.Reg.
The barracks are closing in Sept. 2013. The exhibition will be in the barracks in May.
I am interested in this matter as my fathers brother was with the 17th Reg.
Volunteered and shortly fallen in south Italy with an airplane crash on the transfer to Africa. That is also why my dad gave me his name.
Please check out some impressions.
Much was taken away over the decades.
Every leaving commander received a horse wall ring mounted on wood as a leaving present. Mostly all rings are gone now.
so lets check out the photos of the old horse stabling's (Stallungen).
Beginning outside view of one of the stabling's, there where once around close to 1200 horses there.
2nd photo one of my two sons and half of the orig splitting roll door.
