I really hope that a Do-17 would be found someday in similar condition... There are a few He-111 and at least a couple Ju-88, but not a single Do-17, not even a major wreck. I very much hope they recover one of the nice Dorniers someday!

Some more info from another site

Some information forwarded from Guttorm Fjeldstad regarding the He111h(uknown subtype, all plates shows only "H" and no subtype.)

      Some info about the components:

      Left wing : Heinkelbuilt 9.8.39.
      Right wing: Aradobuilt ?.?.??.
Forward fuselage: Aradobuilt 7.1.39. (Wnr. 2320)
Back fuselage: Aradobuilt 6.7.38 (Wnr. ????)

      Regarding the interior:
Cockpit mostly salvaged by the Germans, all radio and most of the cockpit equipment is gone, only small parts is left, including parts of the left sideconsole. This also includes the bombbay. According to Casmir a whole Ju52 was filled up with cannibalised parts from the He111H now saved. The Pilot seat and the stearing stick (both made of magnesium) are almost gone because of corrosion. There are some bulletholes in the fuselage (don't know where!) most probably from one of the attacks.

The lake was frozen and the 88 and 111 were parked on the ice. Both aircraft had suffered damage, especially to the 88's wing. As the ice melted the two aircraft floated down to the bottom of the lake! There are some great pictures of the aircraft on the cracking ice 60 years ago and some comparison shots today. Great stuff
