Great pictures of a historic battlefield. Years ago there was an article in GQ Magazine authored by the son of a Marine veteran of Guadalcanal. The Father's experiences during this time were very traumatic, altering his personality for the remainder of his life, ultimately resulting in his suicide while the author was young. Although the father brought some war souvenirs home after the war, he never spoke about the war and remained aloof and detached. Years later, the son, in order to understand his father's past and gain a better understanding of the demons that tormented him, made a trip to the island to trace his footsteps. To say the least, the article is very moving emotionally and left me with a haunting respect for all war veterans. I still have the magazine and have reread the article every so often.

Hi Paul,
I really have enjoyed this tour of Guadalcanal, it really hits home to see your presentation after so many, many years of what you normally read in books and view in docos, its certainly different.
Looks like you are enjoying this type of "journalism" to describe your efforts.
Something like "after the battle " but in places never documented before.
How about some YouTube documentaries perhaps in the future? I don't really know, but do not change your habits what ever you do, they are super.
Thanks
nco

Hey guys,
Going through my photo files in the last week or so I thought I would add some more pic's of my Guadalcanal trip from last year,
I also forgot to mention in my earlier post when I started the thread it was the 70th anniversary of the landings.
Here are some more relic pieces you guys might find interesting...
