Hi Guys,
I had the opportunity recently to to spend some time on my Pacific Theatre of War adventure I had planned for a while now, I decided on "The Battle of Guadalcanal"..Solomon Island's,
trekking through the jungles of WWII battlefields always appealed to me I wanted to get a feel for the terrain and environment and have a little taste of what the veterens experianced
on Hells' Island back in 1942, I can tell you the heat/humidity is extreme !! and knocks the hell out of you, by the end of the day all your energy is spent and thats nothing compared to
what the veteren's on that island went through, I can tell you I admire them so much more. I had hired a small 4WD to get around thats about the best way to see the battlefield area's on
Guadalcanal like.. Battle of Tenaru (Alligator creek), Mt Austin/The Gifu, Beach Red landings ect....there is a bit of a then & now spin with period photos and some goodies/relic's to see,
so I hope you enjoy the thread guys.
Paul.
