Another view inside the command bunker. The door is solid steel with a rubber gasket to protect from gas. Note all the brackets for wiring and electrikal equipment:

We are now in the "maproom" directly below the command bunker. The device on the wall is for cleaning the air, in case they needed to close the complex.
I tryed the handle and it still worked, 50 years after the surrender. Amazing quality.

                    For colder days and coffee.
We are now inside the bedrock. Note the "Hindenburg lights" I found several that are in my collection now.
The smokepipe from this stove passes the maproom above and give the guys there warmth.

The second device in the complex to clean air with.
The barrels on the floor was probably for refilling the filters in the cleaning device. These cleaning devices was full of German manufacturer tags, eagles and other markings.

Peter, love the pics! great piece of history... question. Is the bunker abandoned and left to who ever comes along, or is it a goverment run site? Mike

                          Doorway.
If you look in front of you, you see a brickwall. behind that was a large room that i call the "beerhall". Look at the doorway and the hall behind it. Look at the nice vaulting in the ceiling. The "beerhall" is constructed the same way.
After 50 years in a damp environment the bricks was still there. All of them. Not a single one had droped to the concrete floor. I cant find a photo (i think i shot a photo of it) but this impressed me alot.
There is a kitchen as well in the bunker system with a large stove for making food (cant find a photo on that either). I found as well a central for the electrikal system with main connections and fuses.
Under the concrete floor is a system for letting water out.

We are now moving out of the system. The photo shows one of the main innerdoors. The system was still under construction when Germany had to surender in May 45. That is why we dont see what would be a massive and solid steel door with rubber gaskets. Before you could reach this door you had one big trouble to deal with. A deadly one.

Hang on guys, i have a nasty surprise for you

                              Surprise !
bang bang bang. You are dead.
The complex/system has 3 maindoors of entry. Each has a outerdoor and a innerdoor.
If the Germans was under enemy attack, they would close all steel doors and leaving 3 brave soldiers, one (1) at each door. They would be inside the small bunker you see. Its like a bunker inside the bunker.
If you manage to blow up the outerdoor, you can NOT reach the innerdoor without passing this guard. He would shoot at you with a pistol or machine pistol. Look at the thicknes of that concrete. This guard has a solid steel door he can and would close to protect him. This guard would give his life to protect his friends inside the bunker.
