Thanks for the tour. I have always heard about the 'Bute de Vauquois' but have to admit I had no idea what it was.

Thanks Don, yes.....I'd forgotten it was Somme. Very sobering thought. Kind of makes me glad to live in boring, mine-free Wisconsin.
Great photographs and description! It's amazing to think the scars are still so vivid after almost 100 years.

          Majestic! Well mapped out perception.

I once drove by here on the way back from Paris to Germany and regretfully could not make the time to stop.

          Thanks for sharing Don.

Thanks for posting.I have been to Vimy Ridge in France and it has some huge mine craters on an uncleared battlefield. It was called the Hell of Verdun.WWI battlefields are alot more interesting than WWII ones. You can find alot more artifacts.Brian

              Don,

These are some superb photographs of your trip! I hope to one day visit WWI and WWII battlefields. My Great Grandfather was a colonel in the medical corps in WWI in France. I still need to track his records though. I can only imagine the kind of hell he had seen.

Don, that was really superb. I've always wanted to tour the Verdun battlefield. This was the next best thing. The pictures were excellent and nicely detailed. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Don, was there any mention made as to latrine or toilet facilities in the trench systems? I have never seen where it was mentioned before but assumed that there must have been some effort made to have some sort of toilet within the trench system without having to exit the trench, go to the rear and return again to the trench. Excellent presentation Don Amazing how well preserved the dug outs are, I had no idea that it was possible to gain access, something on my to do list in the future. Regards, Clive.
