Serious historical study has proved otherwise. It is only the media who insist on making things up and refusing to "let it go"

As for my greatest militarist, it has to be Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith. "I love it when a plan comes together".

#1 Sun Tzu & # 2 Napoleon, without the Prussians arrival, Wellington would have lost...

Seriously, i think this is an impossible task ! Warfare has changed so much throughout the ages.

Its like asking who was the greatest Heavyweight Boxer of all time, i have this discussion all the time in my local pub.

Was it Dempsey, Marciano, Ali or Mike Tyson??

I know i digress, but it has to be Ali !!! although i did see Tyson fight a couple fo times.

Back to the question in hand, i think our own Horatio Nelson should be given a mention !!!

                    My choice Horatio Nelson

                        My choice
Count Alfred von Schlieffen (1833-1913). His massive strong right and defensive left 'Revolving door' plan is simple and brilliant. If General von Moltke had,nt modified the plan the 20th century and the world we live in today would be completely different.
