    Darrel,

Will you please let us know how your trip went. I would have loved to visited more "off the beaten path" sites on Oahu last summer but had my wife and 3 y/o to entertain.

There's supposed to be some shot-up hangars still accessible on Ford Island and Sholfield Barracks. I've seen pictures but have not visited the sites myself.

    Good luck, Eric

Managed to snag this picture along the East side that is pretty close to the original. Slightly off, it may have been actually taken a little further north of the spot I took this picture:

          Darrell,

Glad to see you had decent beach weather! It was raining like hell when I was there in December 2008.

Where else did you get to?

          Best,
          Greg

Thanks Greg. All the "usual" spots.

Decided to go back up to Pali Lookout on the "61" highway. We were up there last year. Took a few more pictures and saw this plaque which I hadn't noticed last time I was up there. Interesting story. Didn't manage to see the crash site as I was out of time.

Interesting website that details more of the incident back in 1942.

All, apologies for dragging up an eight year old thread, but I will be visiting Oahu in a couple of weeks and wanted to clarify where that marker is located, as the website referenced is for a PBY that went down on Makapu'u Point. Was there a B 17 crash nearby as well?

              Thanks,

              Don

Edit - never mind - I was able to figure it out from the website!
