    Outstanding.

I am sure though that at least #3, destroyer Shaw exploding, and #8, have been published for quite some time.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US...-G-16871_2.jpg

They are both unmistakable, famous photos that I can recall seeing since I was a child, first interested in warfare.

#7 also I have seen long ago, theres a pic of it posted in 2006 here http://thedonovan.com/archives/historical_stuff/, scrolling half way down the long page.
#13 I'm pretty sure I have seen before also.

The rest I think might be new discoveries, not sure how those well known pics published decades ago got mixed in with this batch.
#2 is particularly impressive, as it appears to show an attacking Japanese aircraft on a bombing/strafing run, quite a rarity.

Having at least 4 well known pics mixed in with claimed new discoveries, however, would seem to throw a bit of doubt on the entire story that these are new discoveries.

Where, might I ask, did you find these, and who is making the easily disproved claim that all these photos sat undeveloped for 68 years ?

Phil - Thanks for the thread with interesting and rare photos related to a histoic event to the United States.

This thing has been going around the internet for years. Sorry but these photos are not from a recently found camera.

I received this information from a friend and I had never seen these pictures before.
Accept my apologies if these pictures were already published

i think these pics were taken just after the attack! on the number 2 pics look at the guys on the sub there standing around just looking as are all the other guys in all the pics!i reckon these were taken just after the attack as the fires had taken hold and the japanese planes gone!

I've seen them all before. They are published in the book "Attack on Pearl Harbor" by Stan Cohen first printed in 1981. I'm sure many have been published decades before that as well.

Not a new find. Several have been published in books of years ago, esp. Shaw blowing up.

Actually, it appears that they have manned battle stations, and are doubtless looking for something to take a pop at with the decks AA gun[s], and perhaps even with personal side arms.
Very hard to imagine, no matter the odds or circumstances, fighting men just standing around gawking on a ship of war, with swarms of enemy aircraft darting about, and plumes of smoke from stricken friendly vessels rising all around.

It would have obviously not been possible for them to submerge to escape potential destruction, which of course is the preferred method of subs when encountering enemy aircraft.
My guess is that all non essential hands were ordered ashore, since the sub had to fight as it sat and propulsion was not an option, and was manned only by those essential to AA & comms.
