    Hi,


    This is an incredible set of pictures taken during the Japanese attack against Pearl Harbor in December 1941,
    with a Brownie camera. The film has been developed after remaining for nearly 68 years in the unit
    kept in an entrepot Foot Locker. The quality of the photos shows the right conditions - moisture ... - storage.



    The photos were taken by a sailor from the USS Quapaw ATF-11O. PEARL HARBOR, December 7th, 1941.

    Pearl Harbor:
    On Sunday, December 7th 1941, Japan launched an attack
    U.S. forces stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
    In planning the attack Sunday, the Japanese commander, Admiral Nagumo,
    hopes to surprise the entire fleet in port. Luckily, some aircraft carriers and
    one of the battleships were not in port: The USS Enterprise returned from Wake Island,
    The USS Lexington convoy planes at Midway and USS Saratoga
    USS Colorado were under repair in the United States.
    Admiral Nagumo launched the attack with six carriers and 423 aircraft.
    The attack took place in two waves:
    - Party at 6:00, a point 230 miles north of Oahu,
    the first wave consisting of 40 Nakajima B5N2 Kate (torpedo planes)
    51 dive bombers Aichi D3A1 Val, 50 altitude bombers and 43 zeros.
    At 7:53, the attack back on the fleet based at Pearl Harbor and the airfields
    Hickam, Kaneohe and Ewa. In the next hour, a second wave consisting
    167 aircraft hit one seconds foisles same goals.
    The American casualties are terrible.
    Casualties:
    U.S. Army, 218 KIA 364 WIA
    U.S. Navy; 2008 KIA 710 WIA
    U.S. Marine Corp., 109 KIA 69 WIA
    Civilians, 68 KIA 35 WIATOTAL; 2403 KIA 1178 WIA (2403 dead and 1178 injured)
    Battleships: USS Arizona BB-39, total loss when a bomb struck his shop.
    USS Oklahoma BB-37, total loss, the vessel capsized and sank in the harbor.
    USS California, BB-44, sank in her berth. Out of the water subsequently repaired.
    USS West Virginia, BB-48, sank in her berth. Out of the water and subsequently repaired.
    USS Nevada BB-36, Beached to prevent sinking. Then repaired.
    USS Pennsylvania, BB-38, minor damage.
    USS Maryland BB-46, minor damage.
    USS Tennessee, BB-43, minor damage.
    USS Utah, AG-16, a former battleship used as a target - Sunk.
    Cruisers:
    USS New Orleans CA-32, minor damage.
    USS San Francisco, CA-38, minor damage.
    USS Detroit, CL-8, minor damage.
    USS Raleigh CL-7, heavily damaged, but repaired.
    USS Helena (CL-50) minor damage.
    USS Honolulu, CL-48, minor damage
    Destroyers:
    USS Downes DD-375, destroyed. Parts salvaged.
    USS Cassin, DD-372, destroyed. Parts recovered
    USS Shaw DD-373, badly damaged.
    USS Helm, DD-388, minor damage.
    Minelayers:
    USS Ogale, CM-4, but later poured out of the water and repaired.
    Seaplane tender:
    USS Curtiss AV-4, severely damaged but later repaired.
    Harbor Tug:
    USS Sotoyomo, YT-9, sunk, but later raised and repaired.

    Aircraft:
    188 aircraft destroyed: 92 USN and 92 U.S. Army Air Corps.
