...as i recall, the beautiful fire place had many pieces hacked out of it...would have taken some doing...it would be interesting to know of any stories from vets-or pictures -of pieces of that red marble fireplace. the amount of surviving historical buildings some officials feel happy to destroy is a crime against education. great thread, thanks for the share, gents.

Great pics! I noticed in post #11 the floor tiles in the "now" pic are smaller than the ones in the "then" pic. Was there anything to indicate if the originals were just covered over, or was there more extensive remodeling done? Thanks again for posting

There has been slight remodeling/renevation works over the years through out parts of the eagles nest, why ?? Im not sure..possibly just for up keep sake.

But the majority of the building is original, thanks guys.
