5 000 000 aerial photos in the net

    Hi guys.

I read the following in the paper today:

"From the 19th there will be 5 000 000 aerial photos
on the net. They are from the National Arcives and
were initially regarded as top secret. For exampel
one will find the famous photo of the battleship
Bismarck. Another is showing queues in the exter-
    minationcamp Auschwitz. The adress is
    www.evidenceincamera.co.uk."

I tried to get access but failed. Maybe some of our
more computorskilled members could give it a try.

    Regards
    Peter

Hi Guys, the website is up and running but it cannot cope with the flood of people trying to access the site. The site is being publicized very heavily here in the UK on both National and local TV and radio.
Try it again in a few days

      Cheers, Ade.

As the news of this important event is spreading, it could very well be thier servers couldnt handle the load. I did a Google search, and everyone from 8mm camera groups to Holocaust groups are sharing the news ...and the link.

        Here are some pictures.

        This sobering image is Auschwitz.

From what I understand, with magnification on the original pictures, you can see the bodies floating on the water on the Normandy beach, and Auschwitz inmates lining up for roll call.

With this in mind, I have to wonder what use these images will be online. Magnification will only show the DPI of your monitor or printer, not the minute details.

Wow!!! I still havent pinpointed my families house... But I found Agnes Church which is right down the street. If I study it a bit I will find it. I never knew the destruction was to this extent!!!! I guess I know why my mom cant watch firework shows now. It is very eerie to see it from an aerial view. I had no idea. I was in that trainstation last weekend, it boogles the mind to think I was standing in that!

Yah Chris,,,I live very close to Dortmund. I guess you hear the same stories from your mom as me,,,Mine was visiting me the other day and I showed her the aerial map ,,,she just kind of looked at it stunned. She told me at one point they stopped going to the air raid shelter because they just didnt care to live or die anymore. We are lucky to live in a time where their is no war in Europe.
