Dug up things?

Attic Find.

And I found this one in an attic many years ago, in an old toolbox and with a round chambered! Nice early piece.

All of my "dug stuff" is of Civil War ilk. Goes with the territory. Some Revolutionary War items.

Nice .45!!! You never know what's up the spout right? I found over thirty CCCs, but due to financial reasons (mostly to finance other trips overseas) I sold most of them. They cleaned up VERY nicely, I kept 12 of them and framed the nicest. I had a bunch of bits and pieces I sent to another member here who studies these CCCs closely. I'll see what else I have pics of. Wow Peppicek! Where do you dig? Somewhere in the east I suppose. In South France where I live I know people who realy know how to lookk for stuuf, but finding german badges in basicaly impossible...

Hi guys

Some great items! Here are some relics that I was able to found in Flanders both ww1 and 2...I went to the Ardeens too, but the only thing I found so far there were scharpnels...

Alhtough it has been several years now since I used my metal detector, I'm not immediatly making plans for another trip.

A ww1 german M18 helmet, that was found in a barn together with a bayo. The two bottles of armerican footpowder have also been found in a barn, inside a metal ammo-box, which I sold recently. A german heer buckle, K98 rounds with clips,...and some ammo ( note the 2 sprengkörper grenates)

ps : if someone knows what kind of ammo the 2 large rounds are ( on the second picture, standing up) please inform me because I havn't got a clue. I was once told that these could be british, but I just don't know. They were found in the "Zoniën-forest" near Bruxelles...

I have more, but it's all stored in the garage, will post some more in the near future....

Back from the garage...3 WD 44 marked british jerry-cans, a german container for nebelwerfer-grenates and a small german wooden ammo-box. The jerry-cans were found in a container from local scrapyard last year. My nephew ( member Stijn C.) and I found around 10 of them. You should know that after the war, the british army left tons of stuff in Belgium...and the post-war belgian army was equiped with british fieldgear/uniforms,etc...



There is more, need to search first...

Nice, Nice stuff guys. I love the dug stuff about better than the mint, unissued. When you dig it up or find it, you know that 60 years have passed since the original owner touched it last, and you are the first to handle it since the original owner. Quite a thrill!
I have a metal detector that my wife inherited from her grandfather. We detect Civil War around here, and have found some neat stuff.
A great way to spend the day in the woods, get some exercise and fresh air, and experience the same sights and scenery that the combatants did.

I found a British Helmet at the El-Alamein train station on the 59th anniversary of the battle. I got the senior British historian from the Brit war college (Sandhurst sp) to sign the battle map to confirm my finding. This is the story...The ceiling had caved in and there was junk all over the floor. I was kicking around the junk when I saw the helmet. The liner was rotten, but it still "pings" when you tap it. The Egyptian soldier who was there pointed to something else but it was an old bottle. I asked the top Egyptian if I could keep it and he said yes. The senior US Commander said I could also keep it. I have a picture of the site, General, me and the helmet but I can't post the pic. I payed my $20.00 last week to become a association member but still I can't post any pics despite several emails sent.
