Hi Lasse, I have a few pics, nothing dug, just surface finds.

    Cheers, Ade.

a trip west or south, just a few km depending on your location could aid you

well, sadly i cant post a picture, but my younger brother got a metal dector and we get some time getter at times, he found a danish DNSAP pin, for members, in a very crude condition, he may have it still or not, been 4 years ago since we found it.

            Hi Lasse,

These three items were dug in a field east of Gaumesnil in Normandy, at the supposed location where Michael Wittmann's Tiger I was destroyed on 8.8.44. The location is pretty easy to find using Jean Paul Pallud's photos in "Panzers in Normandy Then and Now." The large piece is a curved piece of steel about 6-7mm thick, and the piece to the upper right is what remains of a large grease fitting that's part brass.

Is this stuff really from Wittmann's tank? Who knows; they could be pieces off a French tractor for all I know! I dug them from about three inches down, using a metal detector.

I dug some other stuff from the Ardennes in Belgium that I'll have to dig up the photos.

            Regards,
            Greg

you've seen one rusted up gun, youve seen em all.

I suppose the fun is in finding these relics, as I couldnt see actively persuing such items any other way.

Accidentally offending people on the internet since 1997

The fun IS in finding these relics. If you have never personally found one of these I can see why you would say that. I think alot of people (myself for certain) can look at such items as a true representation of history, not just a piece of metal. JMHO.

Thanks Guys! The Luger was in a drained lake, and the P38 was in the bank nearby. I have posted quiet a few of my finds over the years here, including the firearms. My friend has found an MP44 and as soon as he gets back from CA I will get the pics to post. I was amazed about how nicely the wood grips were still intact.
Here is the last pistol I found with the detector, although not in the ground, but in an attic.
                            Round was still in it!!
