    Vianden castle

Here is a pic of the Vianden castle. This was an observer post from the US troops during the attack and most of the opposing fire against the german paratroopers came from the smal US garrison of 36 soldiers. The garrison was wiped out around 11 A.M on December 16 1944 by the 4th Comp. of Fallschirmpionier Btl 5 under Lt. Prigge .The Fallschirmjaeger continued their advance. Long before the war and during the war the Vianden castle was in ruins.

Restoration of the castle is still in progress.

Thanks again Jürg for your great then and now threads.

      yours friendly

I used to camp there. I found 2 stg mags, a load of rounds+ a gross Gewehr Pz.Gr. . The explosives where dealt with by the museum in diekirch.

But WAY cool to see this!!

do you have any information about this Fallschirmjager after the battle of the bulge?
                thanks in advance.

It thought it might be nice to show this soldbuch in this great thead.

Rudolf Wildfeuer served in several Luftwaffe units including Kampfgeschwader 3 en Kampfgeschwader 101 before being transfered to Fallschirmjager Regiment 15 in november 1944.
                    Hope you like it.

The guys at After the Battle magazine could be interested in this material. I have quite a few of their books and mags and it is all this stuff.
