Pillbox
The pilbox, in the previous photos, that has tumbled onto the beach, was apparently one that was firing on the Canadians from the right, while the others, still intact, were firing from the left. Thus the Canadians, caught in a murderous crossfire, did not have even the slightest chance of getting off the beach and at the Germans.
While visiting Puy recently, I met a nice French lady, 86 years old and born in Puy, who remembers how Canadian prisoners were kept in the home she lived in with her parents, just up the main street from the beach.http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...1&d=1294436015Comment
