Brought back alot of memories from my trip thru that area in 2007, such a nice drive thru out the ardennes.

i really enjoyed the virtual trip.
what is the situation re camping there.
it seems you drove up to a field, made an open fire...
is that so?
are there fields in this vicinity where one can make flame and sleep in?
clarify if possible.

Day 2:

after a good sleep, we drove outside La Gleize in the direction of de Chenaux bridge. KG Peiper took the same route. This was his view....



Here a small map of the Cheneux bridge and the surrounding area.



...A few civilians at the bridge were killed when KG Peiper reached it.

during an attack of allied fighter bombs, Peiper and Knittel took shelter in this small pillbox...




Just in front of this pillbox, the house was demolished. On the left you can notice a Panther.

driving through Rahier, Peiper approached the next bridge which was demolished in front of the leading Panther which just turned down the corner at the far left....




The route continues to the heavily damaged crossroads in Manhay. KC holder Ernst Barkmann (who died recently) had an important role in this battle
