only the name of the hotel has changed ....and removed the Panther.

after passing "Kaiserbaracke" it was time to go to Poteau, where some famous pictures have been taken and where germans run into some americans.





I could not resist......

continuing and driving through Vielsalm, Gr. Halleux, Wanne to Stavelot....





also an interesting one at the market square at Stavelot.

just outside Trois Ponts at this spot an anti tank gun was fired and hit the first/leading Panther coming from Stavelot....



We continued in the direction of La Gleize stopping at Stoumont...

at the Robinson house an attack occured in which the belgian SS Knight's cross holder Werner Poetschke picked up a Panzerfaust and brought it back to his comrads....

at the entrance of Stavelot the fighting continued in the backstreets....

Huge tanks in narrow streets....

At the railway station (just around the corner left) some heavy battle took place and it was the furthest reached point of the Kampgruppe.

driving back to La Gleize situated in a peaceful environment....






But in 1944 it looked something different.

Ending tiredly the first day, we set up our CP , drunk some wine and made a good fire in the woods around La Gleize (Moulin du Ruy)
