    australian bunker

Went to stay for a few days on bribie island (on the east cost of australia) and figured I should take a photo of one of the bunkers on the beach, placed during the threat of japanese invasion. unfortunately there is nothing left in it and it is completely sealed off.

Thanks for posting the picture of the bunker.

Is there any other forum members have pictures of inside the bunker?

I have no pics of the inside but have been inside a few times. Slinking behind the firing slots one can get a good field of fire on lovely bikini clad ladies.... Bill

                Aussie Bunkers

My eldest son is into bunker searching, climbing down tunnels etc. Hes searched all those around Sydney and wollongong. Hes even convinced theres ordanace still in the underground Railway near St James in a sealed tunnel. Next week hes off to Northern Queensland to dig up a buried arms cache. I think its an excuse to not work he threw in his job to pursue these fantasies. If he finds anything interesting I will post it.
                cheers Robert COUTTS.

Unfortuantly vandals have hit it pretty badly. Can you imagine scanning the horizon from here in 1942 thinking the Imperial fleet could come into view anytime

Remains of power cables. Power was generated in a standalone structure long gone

I climbed up a far too thin tree to try and get the pic of the roof, hanging on for dear life! Regards, Bill

There are some larger more interesting bunkers further up the beach but they require a considerable amount of 4 wheel driving. I am going to moreton island next year and Ill try and get some photos of all the bunkers on the beach
