    Highest ranking Nazi Still Living

Would anyone know who is the highest ranking Nazi still living, & In Hitlers last appearence in 1945 with the HJ is there a list anywhere of who the recipients of the awards are.

None of the NSDAP leaders survive. Most of these politicians were older men at the time. The highest-ranking SS officer said to still be alive is Standartenfuehrer Martin Sandberger who was born in 1911.

With even some of the Hitler Jugend in their 80s now, it would appear that the Nazi hunters would be soon running out of targets. If you were 25 in 1945 then you are (or will be) 89 this year. I would say that most higher ranking Nazis were older than 25 by the end of the war.

When I tracked down Artur Axmann in the Canary Islands about twenty years ago, I believe he was the last living major party leader left alive.

              A. Axmann

Artur Axmann? Do tell the whole story, please.

                Very interesting article!

Howe about German generals, are any of them still alive? Who knows?

                best regards, Bjorn

The last living German General from WWII was Generalleutnant Heinrich Trettner, who passed away in 2006.

Interesting link, thanks Chris. Does anyone know if there is any WWII general still alive from a participating nation?

Interesting article but with all the respect due to the Simon Wiesenthal Center IMHO mixing the KC holder Soeren Kam with a bunch of mass murderers seems a bit exaggerated.

The Axmann story was interesting. As part of my autograph collecting, my club tracked him down through a third party and convinced him to sign some photos of the famous Bunker garden EK award ceremony in 1945.

You can upload a photo using Imageshack (www.imageshack.us) It generates an URL you can paste in a reply.
