        31) The door of the rebuilt church of "Vossenack":

        When the germans had re-captured the "Kall-trail", they were stopped here - at one time the frontline was inside the church, with the GIs in the tower-area, and the germans in the chapel. Heavy closecombat had taken place here:

        (Thats it, but there much more to be seen in this area, will start another thread ref. the "Westwall".)

          Thanks for posting, great photo display of a place I probably will never see. I always enjoy the then and now photos, and the items (tank tracks, etc.) that are still there as a reminder that something happened here, there is more to this place than just the peaceful forest you see now.

                          iv been here myself to all the those places and its actually quiet spooky at times when the fog rolls in through the trees and you can see all the fox holes and arty craters!! great pics!! makes me thing of my first ever battlefield tour with other forum members!! very much all good!

                              No, its one of the best signposted and easy-to-explore battlefields I have ever viseted.

                              This fantastic booklet is avilable in the musuem, it shows you everything you need to know: History of the battle, then&now fotos, perfect descprition for hikings to remains or interesting spots ("go 20m that way, turn right at the first crossroad..", etc.), maps, etc.. It also shows the GPS-dates of those places!
