Yes I was told that Kirby Hall will be no more -- thats too bad it always looked like a class act! I figure someone will try and put on affair like Kirby Hall again and we can show the world what 18th Century Natives are supposed to look like. Till then....

The show was held in Lichfield at the barracks of the Staffordshire Regt.
Groups there ranged from Ancient Greeks through to the Gulf War. I have only photos from the groups doing WW1 & WW2. I was there as a member of 2nd Guards Rifle Div.
First off are a few pics of fellow forum member Paul M's FJ Reg 2.
      Cheers, Ade.

thanks for putting up the pictures Ade, it was a really good, nicer and easy event and I think we will put it in our diarys for next year!

Rolf, the two best sources are SM Wholesale and Lost Battalions for reenactor style reproduction tropical uniforms. Each has their plus and minuses. As far as quality, I think that they are equivalent. However, service can be an issue. SMW can be very erratic in service. Lost Battalions over the years has developed a good reputation for its service after suffering from some growing pains.

Note about the details. At one time, SMW was using original buckles on the belt and leg bindings of the trousers. I do not know if they still do. If they do, I would prefer their trousers over Lost Battalions as LB does not and the buckles that they use are not good facsimiles. I have the LB trousers, but replaced the buckles with originals. That can be an expensive proposition as I paid $15 apiece for the buckles.

Or you could try Richard Underwood in the UK - thats where we source our tropical uniforms from. You can contact him via his website

                  Thanks guys!

What are the thoughts on At The Front?

At the Front is one of the best reenactor supply houses in the US. Their German uniforms are quite good. In my opinion, their reproduction leather gear is quite bad (I think that Chinese cows are made of pleather). Overall, though, a good supplier that is used to shipping overseas.

As an aside, does anyone know who the custom boot maker is in Great Britain of first pattern FJ boots.

Our continental FJ impression comes from G-Max, At The Front and Lost Battalions. Most of our trop stuff comes from S&M, with our trop tunics coming from Lost Battalions.

Great photos Adrian! Looked like a cool event. Will have to post some photos of us doing a Italy '44 look at a big airshow in June.

                        Bravo! Bravo!

Excellent range and variety-- literally "something for everyone!!"

Next time wouldja snap a few of the "Sealed Knot" types? That was the last time any of my lot were still "at home" (in Somerset) over there!
