I believe that the reporter, of this story, perhaps had a bit of Native American peyote button tea. After a sip of that, he might have found himself surrounded by 'Indians' telling him stories!

How is this for an expert, Robert Koehl was an OSS officer during the War sand operated as the US expert in the ETO on SS. He is still alive and is a good friend. He remains one of the World's experts on the Waffen SS. Several years ago he told me there were Americans in the SS but less then 20 known, all White.
The design on the knife sheath is a metal stamp and is not Native American.
This, in my opinion is complete nonsense but I would love to see data to the contrary. That knife looks like someones YMCA summer camp project.Comment

The ones I am aware of were German Americans ie. white. There were some prison sentences given after the War to Americans in Kurt Eggers. I do not remember their names.
It looks like your Italian friend took this joke post as real. As I thought, the story is complete nonsense. This was a joke.

Some subjects are very sensitive. Sometimes just because someone doesn't understand very well mayby they should keep their mouth shut instead of blundering into a conversation that might piss some folks off.
