    STAYING IN Bertesgarden,BAVARIA

    Going There In August With Family For 1 Week.any Good Third Reich Sites Nearby.(apart From The Eagles Nest,which I`am Awear Off).i Have A Car To Travel.

    Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated.

    Hi, I'm sure you aware of the below site. Any chance of taking a photo of some then and now photo's? especially of The Berchtesgadener Hof hotel.

      I visited this museum which is 1 Hour South of Frankfurt when we were there in May. There is a great deal of 3rd Reich material on display here along with tons of other exhibits. I could have spent days at this place. Since you'll have a car I'd recommend the drive to visit this place.

            buy hitlers alpine retreat by james wilson ,it will show you before and after pics of the surrounding area, including period postcards, the surrounding area is steeped in third reich history, you will need this book ,it to me is the bible [ dont mean to blastheme] of what you need to know of the area.

              Not TR related.............but please, please, PLEASE take a trip to the top of the Zugspitz. It's a day trip from Berchtesgaden.

              There's a train to the top of the mountain, and a full restaurant at the summit.

              If you are a non-climber like me, it'll be a life-changing experience.
