A very human story behind the death of a child.

The blown roadway looks like those along the northern coast on Sicily... The Germans blew out great sections of roads that ran alongside steep cliffs. The U.S. engineers miraculously were able to bridge them, enabling Patton's Army to get into Messina, but too late to cut off the Germans before they got across the straights. Too bad about the child... reminds me of the story of the Korean War when young girls were sent out into the fields to make sure there were no mines for the family cows to step on. The cows were more valuable than the girls. I guess it's all in the culture.

Thanks for the comments guys. Fred, you will still have to wait a few years for the book, as I can only take care of it during my hollydays in the summer time .

                        Jean-Loup,
A very sad story that is part of war, and one of so many, but you sure keep me coming back to read your postings with interest. This was a good one since you had a face and the story to go with it.
                        Thanks
                        Bill
