When I finished the Skudeneshamn bunkers, I was heading to the old light house where a german searchlight is still laying.
To find the road there I asked an old man outside this church. He told me the way and he also told me: He sailed in convoy in allied duty under ww2. USA-Murmansk. A friend wrote him a letter wich he read on bord in his cabin. When reading it he saw something odd. It kinda was written somethis between the lines. It was his friend using a paper over the letter and just pressing the letters in between the lines, telling about the bunker batteries you just have seen, telling how many men and artillery`s etc.
He told me that the letter had been opened and stamped "geoffened" s"sensur" etc. Luckly the germans had not looked good enough.
This was before the US was involved in ww2, and his boat was in New York when he got it. He told me that they had some kind of navy artillery gun school in Brocklyn, and that he went to this place with the letter.
He talked to a norwegian navy officer concerning this.
The officer had a cartotek and checked him up regarding he and his ship.
He tanked him for the info and told him that they knew it all..and more too.
Later this guy was torpedoed and the letter dissapered forever.
I promised him to do some comercial for their veteran sailing regatta juni 2008 regarding national guard.
He also told me tat he did not know the branch of the germans on the lighthouse, but that they stayed in the few local houses. See pics!
Enjoy!
>Oh yeah, this bunker was on the road out to the lighthouse.,,
