            Hi,

Some local divers have some years had taken off some skulls and bones and had behind placed in a local store of the city.

The German Government knew and took measured to recoup them.

I do not know what it had later.

            Best regards,

            Ricardo.

I think it is still a maritime grave yard, isn't it? So, taking the gun is also an act of tomb raiding? Not an act of so called knight.

FYI: More than likely, if asked, the U.S. Dept. of Justice's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ("BATFE") would take the position that the receiver of this 20mm gun is still intact enough so that it it is subject to the registration and transfer requirements of the National Firearms Act of 1934 ("NFA"). Thus, the person in possession of the 20mm gun would be (in the view of BATFE) in possession of an illegally imported and unregistered machinegun.

I personally think that, if fully litigated in federal court, the person in possession would likely prevail in demonstrating that due to the advanced state of corosion this gun is not a "firearm" within the meaning of the NFA or the Gun Control Act of 1968. The problem, however, is that the person in possession would have to spend a lot of time, money, and distraction from his/her personal life to fight BATFE on this, as well as subjecting himself or herself to possible felony conviction(s) if BATFE's position turned out to be the prevailing argument.

In other words, whoever has this 20mm gun really needs to keep quiet about it. Same goes for anyone who managed to get one of the several MP-40 SMG's and/or the MG-34 that would have been carried by this sub.

                    U-352

That is an amazing find on a wreck that has been heavily dived and frequently visited for over 25 years.

Wouldn't it fall under "destructive device"? I thought anything larger than a .50 cal would be ruled that way? (20mm's fire explosive shells)

I agree that the BATFE wouldn't be happy! (I don't agree with them though)
