Last sumer, I took these shots on the Black Sea coast south of Sevastopol, Ukraine. These are the remains of Battery Block (BB) 35 which consisted of 2 sets of twin 350 mm naval guns mounted in fully rotating turets. BB-35 fell during the closing days of the siege of Sevastopol on July 2, 1942.
There was a twin BB-34 North of Sevastopol that was destroyed earlier in the campaign but rebuilt by the USSR after the war. There was an article in After the Battle about BB-34.
The photos show the large holes where the turrets were, the entrance to the battery block and monuments. I've got more if anyone is interested!
