    Is a vacation such as this expensive? Someday I would love to tour famous sites in Europe and Russia but have no idea what a typical vacation would cost?

    I am fortunate to have family from Russia who regularly vacationed in the Crimea during the Soviet era; however this does not mean that anyone else couldn't do it. The most expensive thing is the plane ticket. Americans and Europeans don't need visas any more for Ukraine.

    Rent and living in Sevastopol; is pretty reasonable. You can rent apartments from people, which is what we do, but be ready for living in conditions that are somewhat diferent from the US. Your water may be shut off from time to time and finding a place with hot water is a challenge! Air conditioning is rare but it doesn't get too hot there anyway. Of course, Russian language ability is always helpful.

    There are some tour companies that have WWII package tours to Russia and Europe. These would make things easier for those without language abilities or little time. I'm not aware of any military tours to Ukraine at present,
