Hi Terry, I forgot to say thank you for posting this excellent thread the other day. Ok it was not cheap to get in, but I think it was worth it. Many of those exhibits are unique to Kubinka.
The four track Soviet design "Object 279" can be read about here:

The vehicle shown in post number 33 which you were unsure about is a JadgTiger.
Cheers, Ade.

Thanks. Thanks for the link Ade...amazing stuff, isn't it? The thing that struck me is how many different types of tanks, light, medium and heavy ones, the Soviets produced and how many were described to me as "experimental". They obviously spent a lot of money on weapons of this kind.
The tour was not cheap but I had 2 guides just for my self, one old Russian chap whom you can see in one of the shots who had been working all his life with tanks, testing them, etc...He seemed to be amazingly knowledgeable about all the tanks there. The 2nd guy who was with me is the chap who organised my security pass, met me at my hotel in Moscow and accompanied me on the underground and local train. He spoke perfect English and translated all that was said. We were also accompanied at all times by the Colonel responsible for the museum. He spoke no English and did not seem to even acknowldge me...he just listened and watched what I was doing al the time.
In answer to the question above, yes there were a few Russian visitors there also but they seemed to be in group tours, seemingly orgnaised by their company as a reward of some kind I think. There were also a few groups of youngsters dressed in camouflaged outfits (they seem to be as yound as 10 years old). The Museum is quite a way out of Moscow (60 km I was told) and is on the side of the main road that leads West. Next to the museum I understand is the base for an armoured division as wel as an airbase. All this is West of Moscow for obvious, historical reasons....
