    Kubinka Tank Museum

I have just got back from a business trip to Russia and was very lucky to be "allowed" to visit the Kubinka tank museum. It is situated about 60 km West of Moscow. As a non-Russian I had to lodge an application to visit the museum, explain why I wanted to see it and give a statement that I am not a journalist, that I am not a military personnel and that I am not a professional model maker. I could understand the 1st 2 points, bearing in mind that this is Russia and that the museum in on military land. I was puzzled by the 3 rd point about not being a model maker. It was explained to me that many of the tanks on display are unique pieces and that they do not wish any company to profit from the collection by making and selling models of these unique and rare pieces.
I think I paid over the odds for this (about 100 Euros) but i think it was worth it. I hope you'll enjoy the photos. I will start with a few shots of the grounds followed by German stuff and will post Russian and other stuff later or tomorrow (the wife is timing me ).

Here we go, I am sure you will recognise most of the stuff although a few of the models were a surprise to me...in the order I took the photos, so not in any historical order of course.

I am sorry that a number of the photos did not come out too well. There are large windows behing the tanks and even with the flash, it proved difficult. You are also not allowed to walk around the tanks so I was stuck with front views.
