I'd love to see that gun firing AP on a tank range, there must some live 88 ammo still knocking around in some dark dusty corner of the world.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Hi guys, for anyone interested in reenacting Kriegsmarine Coastal Arty in Europe there is also a European branch of this unit.

We fall under the administration and standards of the US unit, but have regular events this side of the pond and of course we go to the States at least once a year to join up with our US Kamaraden - perhaps your chance to fire the 88!!

Our next event is in Jersey (Channel Islands) on the 23rd October at Strongpoint Corbiere and of course there will be photos of the unit in uniform at the site of the original Batterie Lotheringen complex at Noirmont Point (3./MAA 604).

Personally I'd love to do something up in Norway next - who wants to go?

If you want to join up or find out more just PM me - or check out our website at www.marineartillery.com.

WOW Again! This is just an excellent thread. I wish I could get involved. If I could just fire the 88 just once I would be the happiest man alive. Thanks for all the pictures.

                I once flew in a B-17, B-24, & a B-25. Next, I want to fire an 88 round.

The KKA is now a national and international unit. You might not get to fire the 88 but you could put together the impression under the aegis of the KKA.

I will be more than happy to pay for the powder charge. It would be worth it.

Look like a pre-war 1939 reenactment to me...

Nobody has any sign of malnutrition

                        Coastal duty is quite luxurious.....

Ok, I knew someone would say something . Here is an original photo of a Coastal unit. Notice the lack of malnutrition So with this evedence the Coastal Artillery unit must be the most authentic of all the German reenacting units.

                          Wecome to the forum, Aarron!

I can understand why this fellow was "coastal". KEEP HIM ON SOLID GROUND. Don't know if there were any ships that would stay afloat with him on board. Have to use a can opener to get him out of a Uboat - not that he would get inside in the first place. Didn't the Wehrmacht have physical fitness/weight standards? I understand that in 1945 they would take anybody they could.... but while things were looking good for Germany - war wise?

Ahh...a nice Fall day in North Texas. AK uniforms are better suited to our climate even in October!

Great post. Please let us know in advance when you take her (the 88) out to stretch here legs next time!
