      Considering many Vets threw their medals onto the White House Lawn in protest in the 1960's, wouldn't be too much of a surprise someone would turf this stuff for whatever reason.

                  Rest in Peace Thomas!
                  He died 4 1/2 years ago. I wonder if his wife died and this was from her estate. Even though I have seen it happen, I would find it hard to believe she would through them away. Of course who knows what mind set she was in.

                      Judging by the completeness and condition of the set, it seems as if the veteran took a lot of pride in his service. I sad to see it tossed like that, but at the same time glad that someone like you recovered it.

                          Yes, its hard to think and believe that some people value history
                          so little and with no respect. If they didn't want it they could easily
                          have donated it somewhere but in this case it went to a good home.

                          All is well that end well I guess the saying goes?

                          Lets hope to many other pieces of history haven't gone in the dump.
