                      ivory as was possible only 60-70 years ago (there are still elephants in Somalia?) ... especially the big box has the bottom and the top of about 18 cm x 12 cm (thickness 5 mm) then cut crosswise from a exceptional fang.... all the objets are marked with the green label of a ivory shop in Mogadishu....

                              Hi,

                              I know I've come to this series of posts a bit late but, what a really interesting collection of items from Italy’s colonial past. What is also equally impressive is the Italian art which is beautifully observed depicting their Askari in the most heroic of poses. Brilliant!
