thank you Scott, I hoped the eagle was that style!!
do you have any info on the tunic? this is the first tunic i have seen with the style eagle attatched! I have always been a believer that these arm eagles are 100% original pre 1945 manufacture but some have doubted this type as never seen on tunic or cast iron proof back to wartime!!
      cheers

I've had the set 7 years came with unissued pants, both mint and quite perfect. Former owner is not a cloth collector but into daggers, he had the set many decades. No doubt in my mind ...the jacket and pants are pre 45 manufacture.

Hello Gary, here is the reverse stitching of the eagle from the lower bobbin of the machine..it has come loose a bit over the years as you can see.
Also, the maker mark and sizing of the tunic. I have another un issued jacket from the same maker, different interior finishing materials. Many of the jackets and pants finished with the scrap tan tropical weight material are Betr. Ra. marked, this set is not one of them.

For some reason can't post pics..dont know why.

I'm curious what your opinion is on the parka on the left - slightly smaller than what is considered the 1st pattern on the right and lacking the slash lower pockets , smaller hood as well.

                Hi Scott,
Any chance we could see the inside of your M44 sets marking etc? Thanks

Bob, I am pretty sure the SS never referred to any of these parkas as 1st, 2nd or 3rd pattern. Just collector terms and thats where the confusion starts. The Parka you have on the left of the photo is the earlier of the two posted. I can't say a specific time frame but I believe these were issued to W-SS troops stationed in Norway. The parka on the right is the model often referred to as "Kharkov" parka.

....so in collector terms the 1st pattern to the left and 2nd pattern to the right. But then again there was also a 3/4 length pullover that had no outer shell....maybe that would be a true "1st" pattern. In any case the small hood/two pocket parka is the earlier of the two. Maybe ca. 1941. Both nice

Bob..the parka with the smaller hood and lacking the slash pockets is one of the earliest versions...and one of the hardest..IMO to find. The ones that button up all the way..8 buttons..are the most common..next the ones with the slash pockets..and finally, those without the pockets. I have one exactly like it..you will see on this post..but larger size. I think the version you have with small hood is probably size one..and the other one..size 3.
