    Light weight Heer "summer" tunics

    Gentlemen,

I have always really enjoyed these tunics and they are among my favorites to collect. They seem to be hard to find in period pics but you come across a few here and there. Anyways the colors seem to vary quite a bit from jacket to jacket, most common is the green canvas type duct material. I have seen gray and even tan light weight tunics and shades in between. Would love to see what anyone else has out there so we can get a great thread going. I'll start off with mine. Matt

    PzGrn light weight

This tunic is a named piece and I will do a thread on it in a week or two. It is restored, the boards are the original ones that were in this tunic when it was bought from an auction about 18 months or so ago. It was a large grouping split by Kai Winkler and I have the guys name and his war file thanks to Reggu. I will be attempting to put this grouping back together along with is continental tunic. Anyways the thread in the boards matched the tunic and David did a great job with having his seamstress restore it. The eagle he picked out is a bit off and the tabs are an interesting shade of green and did not belong to the Soldier. The boards were bought from the auction as well as a spare set of slip on PzGrn boards that I have as well. He served in the 9th Pz Div and was a very decorated vet. BWB, SWB, GWB, EK2, EK1, TDB, etc also ended the war as a Hauptmann and a kampfgruppfueher, very cool guy to say the least! Matt

          Light weight NCO tunic

This next one was sourced by Mike Davis out of Northern GA and I was glad to add it to my collection. Its a killer untouched NCO and I added the Officer candidate boards. The ribbon bar was on the tunic when found and just pushed through the material, no loops. Matt

              3rd Company Krad tunic

This beauty came to me from a fellow WAF member out of Germany. Its all custom done, the collar wool is an exact match for the boards and the tunic is set up for only these custom boards. I believe the yellow loop around the boards is suppose to denote the 3rd Company. Eitherway its a great piece with drivers badge on the same type of material per regulations. All insignia is untouched period done. Matt

                    Pioneer NCO tunic

So you guys might have seen this one on the estand recently and I was able to snap it up with a nice trade. This tunic had the patch on the lower right sleeve replaced. There is no way to know what patch was on there but Jacques tacked a nice patch into place and I think it goes well with the tunic. There are clear signs that there was a cuff title on the upper portion of the left turned back cuff title. Not sure if im going to restore it or not but will have to see as time goes. Not sure what cuff to put on there anyways. The Sturnmann patch (boat driver patch) is originally sewn as is the eagle. The tress also matches on the collar and the boards as well as does the wear. The boards are mismatched but appear to me to have been on the tunic like this since it was made. There was also a soldbuch cover inside the pocket when Jacques got it and he included it with the tunic. Shame there is just the guys picture on the inside of the cover and no unit information or anything. I can see where there were numerals in one of the boards at some point but I can't decypher what numerals or cyphers were there :/ Matt

This is by far my heaviest summer wight tunic, its more of a canvas material than a light weight duct material like my other ones.

                            Matt:

Nice tunics once again from your collection. I've always admired these tunics since most are normally used been there examples but never delved into them (yet).

This should be an interesting thread.
