my way of thinking is that fakes are so good when t comes to covers...for the time being I felt unsafe in spending big bucks on one.....

All the rest is original...smock....gear etc....
Totally with you on that score. They are a bit out of reach for my budget and I too have purchased a copy/repo as a "fiiler" for that reason. I asked the question partly because I am trying to work out how to age it a bit to match the wear of the helmet. They do look better if they have a worn look. I thought you might have some suggestions on how since the look of your cover is exactly what I'm trying to do.

          Regards Mark.

when it comes to SS iterms I guess it comes to having the $$ to afford them and knwing your subject in order to avid fakes...

I have been tno militaria since 1989, but seriously collecting since 2000....

you see mark replica covers made out of cannibalized Zelts are getting near perfect....so on this side I would hate to get burned for big$$$ on a perfect fake..that is why I went for my near perfect replica instead.....

to age it its simple....(since I´m a modeler) a little coffee....sand paper on the edges, outdoor exposure for a bit and dirt...it will match more or less the original period clothing....

But a big issue is getting original rocker clips..that is a must.....!!!!

that way you have an all original component replica....looks a lot better....

Thanks sunny....so many areas of german militaria collecting facinates me...but when it comes to Blue Division relics...I get blown away...

I have been lucky to make the right contacts in Russia in that sector and they have struck gold....not many Blau relics outthere

did the vet tell you any stories?

                    please share them with us....
