In the photograph the short part of the chinstrap with the buckle is on the right side. Regulation had it on the left side. This was allowed if the soldier fired his rifle left handed and used his left hand to secure the chinstrap on the helmet.

well, im right handed when I write, but was lefthanded when playing hockey...

Another little update on my SS display...added the Drillich fatigue under the smock.....so now we are just missing gear......

No, no..helmet cover is oone of those made of original material but post war, what I did do was add original rocker clips.......

my way of thinking is that fakes are so good when t comes to covers...for the time being I felt unsafe in spending big bucks on one.....

All the rest is original...smock....gear etc....
